Form is king
Regardless of that exercise you are doing, keeping proper form as you go through the full range of motion is extremely important.
This not only can prevent injuries but also allows you to properly target the muscle group(s) that you are aiming your efforts at.
A common mistake is to get impatient and try to train with heavier weights than we can properly handle. Since the load is too heavy, we compromise our form and compensate by using other muscles and joints in all the wrong ways. This is a recipe for pain.
Although it is not uncommon to suffer some kind of minor muscle injury when training hard, these injuries usually heal pretty fast with proper care and rest. A severe injury can take months to heal, sometimes years and the road to recovery is usually a lot harder than training was in the first place.
If you notice you can’t keep proper form, lower the weight or take a short break to catch your breath.
